Had the pleasure hanging out on set for the making of Molchat Doma's "Belaya Polosa" music video, a single off their upcoming record of the same name, out on Sacred Bones 9/6.
Not only do the Belarusian post-punk-synth-pop group make awesome music, but they were all super down to earth and it was a fun experience (I made a small contribution by pressing the the dry ice button for some fog on day two of the shoot - haha!).
The music video was directed by Ambar Navarro with Max Flick as director of photography and produced by Matthew James Reilly. If you're a Synth History head, these names are probably familiar as Ambar and Max have shot several artists for the 'zine, and you've probably seen Matt helping at one of the pop-ups!
Here's a quote from main songwriter Raman about the song:
"The song is inspired, in fact, by deep changes in life, about how people around you are constantly changing at a crazy speed. People who were with you before are now in the past. Well, to be fair, not all of them, and that's very good. It's about a shift in perspective on life, on the world in general, about how we have grown older, and some things that were important before are now absolutely unimportant. Now there are completely different concerns and goals. That's what the song is inspired by."
